Die französische Bezeichnung _inspection_ kann eine Tätigkeit der Qualitätsüberwachung im Rahmen eines festgelegten Auftrags bezeichnen.

Die angeführte Definition gilt für qualitätsbezogene Normen; der ISO/IEC Leitfaden 2 definiert Prüfung anders.
